Hello from Denmark
Right now we are enjoying a typical Danish summer, meaning my shorts and tanktops are still sitting untouched in my suitcase. I suppose, though, that it's been nice, especially for Morten, to have a respite from the oppressive Beijing heat. Hope everyone is having a great summer. Pictures soon!
Hutong Cuisine
Our good friends Jan and Nanny have left China now, but before Jan left, we got together for a cooking class. We learned Gung Bao Chicken, Black Pepper Beef, Dry Fried Green Beans, and Braised Fish. The class was in a traditional hutong courtyard kitchen, complete with a dog under our feet and cats running around on the roof. It's definitely something to try again. Picture test
The photo system for this blog is a bit clunky, but since I am running out of options, I thought I'd better figure it out.
This is a photo of me cooking Gung Bao chicken at a recent Hutong Cuisine cooking class. More to come!

Positiveness
After my last post, I feel the need to send out something positive.
The sun was shining and it was warm today, and in spite of the crowd at the pool, I managed to get myself a deck chair. For dinner, I ordered us pizza, and though I was slightly skeptical after the shaky phone conversation, we happily received the right items.
Tomorrow promises new adventure. Seize the day, everyone.
China
If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.
Catching up
I have really struggled with keeping this blog updated, but since access to my blogspot seems to have been permanently blocked, I have to figure out a way to make this one work. I am going to post some links to my facebook photos in an effort to catch up. More to come.

Sailing Pictures, Denmark 7.2008
Here are some pictures from the sailing trip I mentioned in my previous post. Don't I look like a pro?
I have also posted this at margieschuh.blogspot.com as a slideshow since I have access, but I will continue to blog here just in case.

First China to Denmark
We are now in Denmark, and Morten and I have successfully completed our first voyage in Lunde, our 33 foot sailboat. We moved it from Augustenborg to Struer in six days and had a great time doing it. In spite of my knowledge about sailing being limited to the fact that you use wind to move the boat across the water and Morten being a very spontaneous mid-crisis teacher, I did okay, even becoming somewhat helpful toward the end of the trip. Pictures will come later as I am updating this from what is becoming my regular computer at the Holstebro Library. The weather here is unexpectedly good (nice weather here is always unexpected to me), and I'm crossing my fingers for it to hold out for the next week or so before we leave.
My Birthday
I had a great birthday this year. As you will see in the photos, Morten made me several culinary delights, and I got some lovely presents.

More Thailand, May 2008
On our way from Phuket to Denmark, we stopped in Bangkok for a day and a half to do some sight-seeing. We didn't have much time, so we decided to see the Grand Palace and the floating market just outside Bangkok. Both were excellent choices.

Thailand, April 2008
The week before we got married, we went to Thailand for a mini spring vacation. We met some of Morten's friends who work for Vestas in Australia and had a great time seeing the beautiful islands and enjoying the sun and warmth. We stayed in Merlin Beach Resort near Patong Beach on Phuket Island. It was fantastic, and Morten and I plan to go back for a more primitive experience! I know there are alot of pictures and not much writing, but I think in this case, the pictures speak for themselves.

Wedding Photos
Well, it turns out that I can't post the cool little slide show from Picasa like I did on blogspot, so you'll just have to click on the link--enjoy! http://picasaweb.google.com/margie.schuh/WeddingPhotos
My new blog site--for now
I finally found this website for expat bloggers, and since the access to blogspot has been tenuous at best, I will do my blogging here while we are in China. Hopefully I will be back to blogging regularly in no time at all.
